Outreach Programs
Outreach programs conducted by the College of Communications at Penn State.
Through many efforts—whether hands-on work with high school students, journalists and filmmakers or as active members of professional organizations—the people of the College of Communications regularly put Penn State's mission of teaching, research and public service into practice.
Numerous outreach efforts make the public service portion of that mission an almost daily reality. Those activities include:
-
Editors Day, in association with the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors. This session is conducted during the spring semester each year.
- Distance Education
- Institutes for High School/Middle School Students, which provide hands-on, on-campus opportunities for students interested in filmmaking and journalism. Regular offerings include the Institute for Middle School Journalists, the Institute for High School Journalists, the Institute for High School Filmmakers, the Institute for High School Radio Broadcasting and the Institute for High School Advanced Photojournalists. - Multicultural High School Journalism Workshop, an intensive two-week session for students.
