Steve Sampsell

After earning his degree in journalism from Penn State, Sampsell began his newspaper career as associate editor of the Lock Haven (Pa.) Express. After that, he worked at weekly newspapers in Pittsburgh before joining the Pittsburgh-Tribune Review.

He worked at the Tribune-Review for nine years, covering local government events and meetings as well as college football and basketball, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game and the Super Bowl. After a brief tenure as assistant sports editor of the Centre Daily Times in State College in 1999, he returned to the University as a public information officer in the Eberly College of Science in 2000.

In 2001, he joined to the College of Communications. Along with duties in the College, which include publications, the Web site, and special events, he teaches news writing and reporting and continues to complete freelance work that appears in several magazines publications.
