Communications Degrees
The College of Communications offers five undergraduate majors, each leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Undergraduate Degrees
- Advertising/Public Relations, 120 credits
- Film and Video, 120 credits
- Journalism, 120 credits
- Media Studies, 120 credits
- Telecommunications, 120 credits
The College is accredited by the Accrediting Council of the Association
for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.The programs
are designed to educate students for careers in communications--newspapers,
radio, television, magazines, cable, advertising, film and video
production, research, public relations, government, industry and
non-profit organizations, and areas of new technology in which more
traditional professions and new communication delivery systems have
converged.
The college provides an academic and professional education that is based on a liberal arts foundation. Students broaden and strengthen their background in the liberal arts and sciences and must complete a minimum of 80 credits of non-communications courses.
Penn State offers the advantages of a large university; the College of Communications provides the intimacy and support of a small college. Students are urged to participate in extracurricular activities associated with the various programs.
