Kelly Chernin is currently completing her Masters degree at Penn State University. After receiving her undergraduate degree from American University, Kelly moved to Changsha, China, where she spent three years teaching English at a Chinese Medicine University. Her thesis at Penn State focuses on the role of technology in Chinese Revolutions and if and how technology changes the nature of social movements over time. She hopes to continue this research in a Ph.D. program, exploring other topics related to Western bias and Chinese media systems. Her other research interests include protest music in China and other underground media that can instigate social change.
