Matthew Jordan

Biography

Matthew Jordan teaches media studies, cultural studies, film studies and critical theory. He is the author of Le Jazz: Jazz and French Cultural Identity (University of Illinois Press, 2010), numerous academic articles and book chapters. In addition to being a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post, his essays have appeared in venues like The New Republic, Quartz, Fortune, The Conversation and The Washington Post. He is co-director of the Social Thought Program, sits on the advisory board for the Center for Humanities and Information, and is an affiliated faculty with the Center for Democratic Deliberation. He is currently a North American representative to the Board of the Association for Cultural Studies. Before joining the faculty at Penn State, he taught at the University of Louisville.
