Jonathan Cavallero is a full-time lecturer in the College of Communications.
Before returning to Penn State, where he earned his master's degree and served as a research assistant from 2001 to 2002, Cavallero was an associate instructor at Indiana University in the Department of Communication and Culture.
Cavallero specializes in Italian-American images in American and international cinema, race and ethnicity in American cinema, American directors of Italian descent and multiculturalism and pedagogy.
He was the presenter and host of the Italian Film Series held at Penn State in 2001 and has published several journal articles in such publications as the Journal of Popular Film & Television and VIA: Voices in Italian Americana.
He has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007 and 2006 as well as the Society of Cinema and Media Studies Graduate Student Travel Award in the spring of 2005. Cavallero gained some experience as a production assistant for the 2001 film "Killer Instinct" and worked as a title analyst for Thomson and Thomson in Washington D.C. from 1998 through 2000.
