Biography:

Jennifer Zeigler teaches magazine writing and introductory news writing and reporting to undergraduate students in the College of Communications. A member of the faculty since 2005, Zeigler possesses more than nine years of professional magazine-writing experience that she capably shares with her students.

Ziegler began her career as an editorial assistant for Country Inns in 1996 where she wrote an annual book review column as well as assisted with photo shoots and imposition. She then spent a year as the editor of Township Engineer, followed by three years as the associate editor of Pennsylvania Township News where she researched, wrote, edited and designed for the statewide monthly magazine. She was a senior writer for The New Physician from 2000 to 2005 where she covered such issues important to medical students as public-health policy and improving medical education. She also managed freelancers, staff writers and production and support staff for the magazine.

Since 1998 Ziegler has also been a freelance writer. She researches and writes feature articles for such magazines as Good Life, Common Ground, The New Physician, Pennsylvania Township News and Washington Business Forward. She has also made contributions to the Centre Daily Times in State College.

She has received the Apex Award for feature writing with her 2004 article “Pushing an Agenda,” published in The New Physician. Ziegler also received the Wolsely Award for Outstanding Magazine Students in 1995 while studying at Syracuse University.
